{"id":343438,"date":"2024-10-27T09:30:05","date_gmt":"2024-10-27T08:30:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=343438"},"modified":"2024-10-27T09:30:05","modified_gmt":"2024-10-27T08:30:05","slug":"fire-outbreak-lagos-blue-line-to-resume-train-operations-sunday-lamata","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/10\/27\/fire-outbreak-lagos-blue-line-to-resume-train-operations-sunday-lamata\/","title":{"rendered":"Fire outbreak: Lagos Blue Line to resume train operations Sunday \u2014 LAMATA"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Engineers are currently working to replace the damaged cables, and normal train services are expected to resume<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has announced that operations on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/08\/18\/blue-rail-lagos-to-receive-2-coaches-in-october\/\">Lagos Blue Line rail<\/a> will resume on Sunday morning, following a fire outbreak near the old NEPA Station by Eko Bridge in Apogbon, Lagos Island.<\/p>\n<p>LAMATA&#8217;s Head of Corporate Communication, Kolawole Ojelabi, confirmed on Saturday that a cable spark caused a temporary disruption in passenger operations on the Blue Line.<\/p>\n<p>According to the release, surveillance cameras monitoring the section alerted emergency personnel immediately, and the response process was activated.<\/p>\n<p>LAMATA assured the public that no passengers or workers were endangered during the incident, adding that engineers are currently working to replace the damaged cables, and normal train services are expected to resume by Sunday morning.<\/p>\n<p>The authority reiterated its commitment to the safe operation of the Blue Line, which is the first electrically-powered rail system in West Africa.<\/p>\n<p>The statement reads partly, \u201cNo passengers on the train and workers were in danger following the fire incident.
