{"id":343499,"date":"2024-10-27T22:14:37","date_gmt":"2024-10-27T21:14:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=343499"},"modified":"2024-10-27T22:14:37","modified_gmt":"2024-10-27T21:14:37","slug":"just-in-nsib-recovers-another-victim-from-rivers-helicopter-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/10\/27\/just-in-nsib-recovers-another-victim-from-rivers-helicopter-crash\/","title":{"rendered":"JUST-IN: NSIB recovers another victim  from Rivers helicopter crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>The vessel departed at 4:45 PM for the incident scene.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><b>The search and recovery operation has continued in a coordinated effort by authorities including the NSIB.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has confirmed recovery of another body, believed to be the fourth victim, from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/10\/24\/just-in-helicopter-crash-claims-three-lives-in-port-harcourt\/\"><strong>helicopter crash near<\/strong><\/a> Bonny Finima in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.<\/p>\n<p>Three bodies were previously recovered after the Sikorsky SK76 helicopter, operated by Eastwind Aviation, crashed into the Atlantic Ocean on Thursday, October 24, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The search and recovery operation continues with coordinated efforts from authorities, including the NSIB.<\/p>\n<p>At 4 pm, the FRC retrieved a floating body, escorted by the Cameroonian Navy to NUIMS Antan.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Field operations identified the body by confirming the T-shirt worn matched the description provided. Although it took time, photographic evidence confirmed the identity as the fourth victim,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n<p>It disclosed that the Eastwind Aviation had been contacted to arrange an air ambulance for transporting the body on Monday morning, with Eastwind actively coordinating this effort.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Antan Security informed the Port Harcourt Marine Police to prepare for receiving the body from the air ambulance.<\/p>\n<p>As the operation to retrieve the remaining bodies and the wreckage of the helicopter continues, NSIB revealed that at 10:30 AM, Search, Rescue, and Recovery vessels MV VOSINE, Ebok HD Steadfast, MV Pioneer, and Jacksparrow departed Ebok for the Antan field.<\/p>\n<p>It added that at 1:40 PM: MV Albacore 5 was prepared to transport additional diving equipment for human divers, along with personnel to support recovery operations.<\/p>\n<p>The vessel departed at 4:45 PM for the incident scene.<\/p>\n<p>The NSIB also confirmed that two additional specialists would be deployed to the NUIM Antan incident site on October 28, 2024, to supervise and support the helicopter recovery effort.<\/p>\n<p>The NSIB stated that it is actively collaborating with a joint search, rescue, and recovery team, as well as various supporting agencies, adding that The combined efforts are essential for ensuring a thorough and efficient recovery process and for gathering critical evidence to aid the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Captain Alex Badeh Jr., Director General of the NSIB, expressed appreciation for the joint support:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are grateful for the coordinated support of national and international partners working alongside us in this challenging environment.
