{"id":345198,"date":"2024-11-12T09:45:56","date_gmt":"2024-11-12T08:45:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=345198"},"modified":"2024-11-12T09:45:56","modified_gmt":"2024-11-12T08:45:56","slug":"fg-bars-pilots-from-working-with-multiple-airlines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/11\/12\/fg-bars-pilots-from-working-with-multiple-airlines\/","title":{"rendered":"FG bars pilots from working with multiple airlines"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>According to the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the decision became imperative following findings that pilots and other crew members are rendering services to different airlines<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/11\/08\/endbadgovernance-protest-fg-right-to-arraign-minors-for-treason-agf-fagbemi\/\">Federal Government<\/a> has restricted licensed flight crew members to operating with one airline.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the decision became imperative following findings that pilots and other crew members are rendering services to different airlines.<\/p>\n<p>NCAA described the practice as illegal hence the move to bar pilot and crew from working with multiple airlines.<\/p>\n<p>The development is contained in a circular NCAA\/DGCA\/AOL dated November 6th 2024 and signed by the Ag. Director-General, Civil Aviation, Capt. Chris Najomo.<\/p>\n<p>According to the circular, instances where pilots operate for more than one airline concurrently portends danger.<\/p>\n<p>It said the licence issued to pilot or any member of the flight crew is operator specific based on the approved Standards Operating Procedures (SOPs).<\/p>\n<p>The circular issued to Accountable Managers\/Director of Flight Operations and Chief Pilots titled, \u201cPROHIBITION OF AD-HOC FLIGHT OPERATIONS FOR MULTIPLE AIRLINES\u201d read: \u201cIt has come to the notice of the authority through our surveillance reports that licensed<br \/>\nflight crew members utilize the privileges simulators and proficiency checks endersed on their license to operate for multiple airlines.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Flight Simulator Training Device\/facility approved by the Authority si operator specific based on the training program and the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for such an operator.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInstances where pilots operate for more than one arline concurrently without safety considerations of such actions poses a safety risk to the industry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The CAA stated that with effect from the date of issuance of this Directive, all operators and holders of pilot license are informed that this action will be treated as a violation of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Authority wil take appropriate enforcement action on violators of this directive, affective from 11th November, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSimulator renewals from henceforih will be tied to the Operator.
