{"id":346119,"date":"2024-11-19T08:16:54","date_gmt":"2024-11-19T07:16:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=346119"},"modified":"2024-11-19T08:16:54","modified_gmt":"2024-11-19T07:16:54","slug":"court-exonerates-jigawa-commissioner-of-adultery-allegation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/11\/19\/court-exonerates-jigawa-commissioner-of-adultery-allegation\/","title":{"rendered":"Court clears Jigawa commissioner of adultery allegation"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Sarki Yola underscored the need for thorough and meticulous investigations by law enforcement and regulatory bodies into the matter<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Commissioner for Special Duties in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/11\/14\/three-die-in-jigawa-road-accident\/\">Jigawa State<\/a>, Auwal Danladi Sankara, has been exonerated of adultery allegations levelled against him.<\/p>\n<p>The Commissioner had been accused of sleeping with one Tasleem Baba Nabegu in an uncompleted building.<\/p>\n<p>However, Sankara was cleared of the allegation by the Upper Shari\u2019a Court in Kano, presided over by Ibrahim Sarki Yola.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that one Nasiru Buba, the husband of the woman whom Sankara was said to have had an affair with, instituted the case against the Commissioner.<\/p>\n<p>While delivering his ruling, Sarki Yola underscored the need for thorough and meticulous investigations by law enforcement and regulatory bodies into the matter.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that allegations against prominent individuals must be handled with care to avoid unnecessary tarnishing of reputations.<\/p>\n<p>The court also observed that the complainant and his legal representatives failed to appear to contest the Police findings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFollowing the investigation by the office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, the report shows there is no evidence to prove that there was any illicit affair between Auwal Danladi Sankara and Tasleem Baba Nabegu.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince the complainant and his lawyers are not present to challenge the submission by the police, I have no choice but to strike out the case,\u201d the judge stated.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on behalf of Sankara, his counsel, Barrister Sadam Suleiman, expressed satisfaction with the judgment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have always maintained that our client is innocent. The court has affirmed this by clearing his name based on the police investigation,\u201d Suleiman said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Rabiu Shu\u2019aibu, counsel for Tasleem Baba Nabegu, indicated that his team might take further legal action against Nasiru Buba for defamation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will discuss with our client to explore the possibility of filing a case against Nasiru Buba, as he has defamed her name,\u201d Shu\u2019aibu remarked<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sarki Yola underscored the need for thorough and meticulous investigations by law enforcement and regulatory bodies into the matter.
