{"id":346855,"date":"2024-11-25T10:19:37","date_gmt":"2024-11-25T09:19:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=346855"},"modified":"2024-11-25T10:19:37","modified_gmt":"2024-11-25T09:19:37","slug":"lagos-govt-impounds-128-motorcycles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/11\/25\/lagos-govt-impounds-128-motorcycles\/","title":{"rendered":"Lagos govt impounds 128 motorcycles"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>The operations were carried out in Ikorodu, Ikotun, Berger and other parts of the state.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The Lagos State Government has impounded no fewer than 128 motorcycles in multiple operations across various parts of the state.<\/p>\n<p>The motorcycles were confiscated and impounded during a slew of operations by the men of the State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement unit, also known as the Lagos Task Force,<\/p>\n<p>The operations, the agency said, were carried out in Ikorodu, Ikotun, Berger and other parts of the state.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson for the task force, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, disclosed that the operations were part of the agency\u2019s efforts to clamp down on illegal operation of commercial motorcycles across restricted areas in the state.<\/p>\n<p>Abdulraheem noted that aside from impounding motorcycles, both riders and passengers would be prosecuted if arrested.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cThe Lagos State Task Force continued its rigorous enforcement against the illegal operation of commercial motorcycles (okada) in restricted areas of the state during the recent operations carried out in Berger, Sabo in Ikorodu, Ikotun and other areas of the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe chairman of the Lagos State Task Force, CSP Adetayo Akerele, reiterated the agency\u2019s unwavering stance on the illegal operations, stressing that both riders and passengers found violating the ban will be prosecuted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPassengers on okada are as guilty as the riders. If caught, they will face the full weight of the law alongside the riders,\u201d he warned.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the impounded motorcycles would be forfeited to the state government while urging residents to adhere to rules and regulations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll the 128 impounded motorcycles from all the locations will be forfeited to the state government through the court.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Lagos State Task Force remains committed to enforcing the law and ensuring that Lagos roads remain safe and motorable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cResidents are encouraged to adhere to the regulations, as these efforts are in place to protect the lives and property of all Lagosians,\u201d Abdulraheem concluded.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The operations were carried out in Ikorodu, Ikotun, Berger and other parts of the state.
