This initiative will address electricity issues in Delta North and beyond,\u201d Senator Nwoko said.<\/p>\n<p>Located in Ndokwa East Local Government Area, the Okpai Power Plant recently expanded its capacity to 980 megawatts. However, it has yet to supply electricity to its host communities, which Senator Nwoko called unacceptable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis power plant, commissioned by President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2005, was intended to serve Delta North. It is time we ensure it fulfills that purpose,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n<p>Senator Nwoko explained that private financiers are ready to fund the project, requiring only guarantees to recover their investments over 20 to 24 years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce those guarantees are in place, the projects will proceed,\u201d he assured.<\/p>\n<p>The Asagba of Asaba commended Senator Nwoko\u2019s efforts and pledged the traditional institution\u2019s support in ensuring the project\u2019s successful implementation.<\/p>\n<p>This partnership between the Federal Government, private investors, and Delta State signals a significant step towards addressing the region&#8217;s electricity challenges and boosting socio-economic development.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal
