{"id":347302,"date":"2024-11-28T12:14:55","date_gmt":"2024-11-28T11:14:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=347302"},"modified":"2024-11-28T12:14:55","modified_gmt":"2024-11-28T11:14:55","slug":"police-nab-alleged-fraudster-with-fake-presidential-plate-number-recovers-n320m","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/11\/28\/police-nab-alleged-fraudster-with-fake-presidential-plate-number-recovers-n320m\/","title":{"rendered":"Police nab alleged fraudster with fake presidential plate number, recovers N320m"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>The suspect was said to have been in possession of a fake identity card purportedly issued by the federal ministry of labour and employment.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><b>The FCID that the suspect alongside his co-conspirators will be charged to court will be charged to court at the end of the investigation.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Operatives from the Special Investigations Team attached to the Force Criminal Investigations Department Annex in Lagos State have apprehended a suspected fraudster.<\/p>\n<p>Chinedu Ngwaka, a self-proclaimed Bureau De Change operator, was arrested by the police for his alleged involvement in a N320 million fraudulent scheme.<\/p>\n<p>Mayegun Amina, spokesperson for FCID Annex, Lagos State, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/mayegunAmina\/status\/1861790226227630238?t=_wMUjAEQXpPZVGhjywU6Gg&amp;s=08\"><strong>stated<\/strong><\/a> that Ngwaka&#8217;s arrest was due to his use of a fake Presidency number plate on his Toyota Hilux vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Ngwaka was found in possession of a counterfeit identity card allegedly issued by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment.<\/p>\n<p>Amina said, \u201cOn September 9, 2024, the Nigeria Police Force received a petition addressed to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, FCID Annex, Lagos, from Chinedu Laz and Partners (Deo Gratia Chambers) on behalf of Mr Tochukwu Unachukwu, the Managing Director of Casco Electronics Company Limited, against Chinedu Ernest Ngwaka and his wife, Janet Onyekachi Ngwaka, of being involved in a fraudulent scheme amounting to N320m.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUpon receipt of the petition, detectives from the Special Investigations Team of the anti-fraud Section attached to Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID) Annex, Lagos, swiftly swung into the intelligence-led investigation.<\/p>\n<p>The team reviewed relevant banking records and secured a warrant of arrest, which led to the apprehension of Chinedu Ernest Ngwaka, a self-acclaimed Licensed Bureau De Change (BDC) operator,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Amina added that further investigation revealed other petitions against Ngwaka from Mr Moses Chizoba Enechukwu and Chinedu Nwaforcha, seeking the recovery of N1 billion and N840 million respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Ngwaka and his co-conspirators will be charged to court at the end of the investigation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The suspect was said to have been in possession of a fake identity card purportedly issued by the federal ministry of labour and employment.
