{"id":347802,"date":"2024-12-02T11:49:02","date_gmt":"2024-12-02T10:49:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=347802"},"modified":"2024-12-02T11:49:02","modified_gmt":"2024-12-02T10:49:02","slug":"cbn-earmarks-n50bn-for-payoff-amid-move-to-retire-1000-workers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/12\/02\/cbn-earmarks-n50bn-for-payoff-amid-move-to-retire-1000-workers\/","title":{"rendered":"CBN earmarks N50bn for payoff amid move to retire 1,000 workers"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>The development follows months of CBN termination of the appointment of many of its staff, including 17 directors who served under the immediate past governor, Godwin Emefiele<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>About one thousand persons in the employ of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/11\/30\/japa-not-good-idea-were-building-economy-for-every-nigerians-to-thrive-cbn-gov-cardoso\/\">Central Bank of Nigeria<\/a> may be nearing the end of their career at the apex bank.<\/p>\n<p>The financial and banking sector regulator disclosed that the affected persons would cease to be its employees from December 31, 2024, Daily Trust reports.<\/p>\n<p>The retrenchment exercise, which the apex bank described as strategic realignment of its workforce, would gulp about N50 billion.<\/p>\n<p>The development follows months of CBN termination of the appointment of many of its staff, including 17 directors who served under the immediate past governor, Godwin Emefiele.<\/p>\n<p>In a circular released three weeks ago by the CBN, it stated that the application for the Early Exit Package (EPP) was open to all cadres of staff and would close by Saturday, December 7.<\/p>\n<p>According to the circular, staff exempted are those yet to be confirmed or who have served less than one year \u201cas of the date of publication,\u201d with the effective date of exit set at December 31, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFinancial incentives for all other cadres of staff shall be for the remaining period in service, up to a maximum of 18 months of current grade gross annual emoluments,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n<p>However, the apex bank is yet to officially comment on the planned retirement of 1,000 staff by year-end<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The development follows months of CBN termination of the appointment of many of its staff, including 17 directors who served under the immediate past governor, Godwin Emefiele About one thousand persons in the employ of the Central Bank of Nigeria may be nearing the end of their career at the apex bank.
