{"id":348492,"date":"2024-12-08T11:36:10","date_gmt":"2024-12-08T10:36:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=348492"},"modified":"2024-12-08T11:36:10","modified_gmt":"2024-12-08T10:36:10","slug":"ondo-man-sent-to-prison-over-sexual-intercourse-with-11-year-old-daughter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/12\/08\/ondo-man-sent-to-prison-over-sexual-intercourse-with-11-year-old-daughter\/","title":{"rendered":"Ondo man sent to prison over sexual intercourse with 11-year-old daughter"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>He was arraigned by the police on two counts bothering indecent sexual assault of a minor and threat to life<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/11\/25\/ondo-farmer-beats-suspected-thief-to-death\/\">Ondo State<\/a>, one Moses Udoh has been remanded in a correctional facility for allegedly sexually assaulting his 11-year-old daughter.<\/p>\n<p>A Magistrate Court sitting in Akure, the State capital, ordered his remand after he was arraigned before the court last Friday.<\/p>\n<p>He was arraigned by the police on two counts bothering indecent sexual assault of a minor and threat to life.<\/p>\n<p>He was said to have committed the offence in Igboniki Street, Akure, last week, prompting his arrest by the police in the State.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor, Inspector Taiwo Oniyere, disclosed that the defendant on several occasions forcefully had carnal knowledge of his 11-year-old biological daughter, which caused the victim harm.<\/p>\n<p>Oniyere told the court that the defendant threatened to kill the victim if she dared tell anyone about his action.<\/p>\n<p>According to the prosecutor, the offence committed contravenes Sections 25(a) and 86(2) of the Ondo State Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law of 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Udoh pleaded not guilty to the offence but his plea was not taken due to the nature of the offence.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendant to the correctional centre, pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution<\/p>\n<p>Ruling on the case, the Magistrate, Temilola Olusola-Olujobi ordered the remand of the defendant in the correctional centre and also ruled that the case should be transferred to the family court and adjourned the case till December 10, for trial.<\/p>\n<p>Narrating her ordeal, the victim, alleged that her father often had sexual intercourse with her in his room.<\/p>\n<p>She said, \u201cMy father has been forcefully having sexual intercourse with me through my front and my back. He started it when I was 10 years old and I cannot count the number of times he has done it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhenever my father was sleeping with me in the night, he would increase the volume of his radio, so that my voice would not be heard by neighbours around.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe instructed me not to tell our neighbours about it and also threatened to kill me and the person.
