{"id":348541,"date":"2024-12-09T05:09:36","date_gmt":"2024-12-09T04:09:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=348541"},"modified":"2024-12-09T05:11:17","modified_gmt":"2024-12-09T04:11:17","slug":"meet-nigeria-customs-first-female-pilot-olanike-balogun","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/12\/09\/meet-nigeria-customs-first-female-pilot-olanike-balogun\/","title":{"rendered":"Meet Nigeria Customs\u2019 first female pilot, Olanike Balogun"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Olanike Nafisat Balogun becomes the first female pilot in the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Olanike joined the NCS in 2002 and achieved key qualifications, including an Advanced Diploma in Air Ticketing and Cabin Services, a Master\u2019s in Public Administration, and a Pilot Certification from Miami\u2019s Flying Academy.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>She now serves as a Deputy Superintendent of Customs and is the first female pilot in the NCS Airwing.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/tag\/ncs\">Nigeria Customs Service<\/a><\/strong> (NCS) has honored Olanike Nafisat Balogun for making history as its first female pilot.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement issued on December 8, 2024, NCS spokesperson Abdullahi Maiwada commended Olanike for her dedication and ambition, which have contributed to her remarkable achievement.<\/p>\n<p>Olanike&#8217;s journey with the NCS reportedly began in 2002, and over the years, she advanced her qualifications.<\/p>\n<p>She obtained an Advanced Diploma in Air Ticketing and Cabin Services, a Master&#8217;s in Public Administration from Ahmadu Bello University, and a Pilot Certification from the Flying Academy in Miami, Florida\u2014each with the support of the NCS.<\/p>\n<p>Now serving as a Deputy Superintendent of Customs, Balogun is the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/?s=first+female+pilot\">first female pilot<\/a> <\/strong>in the NCS Airwing.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_348543\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-348543\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-348543\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2024\/12\/IMG-20241208-WA0001.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"1200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2024\/12\/IMG-20241208-WA0001.jpg 720w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2024\/12\/IMG-20241208-WA0001-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2024\/12\/IMG-20241208-WA0001-683x1024.jpg 683w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-348543\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Balogun Nafisat Olanike.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Her achievement has positioned her as an inspiration for women within the service and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>Reflecting on her path, she spoke about the challenges she faced, particularly the tough decision to remain in public service while others pursued more lucrative opportunities in the airline industry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Staying in the Service was tough, but I was determined to contribute to public service and fulfill my dream of becoming a pilot,\u201d<\/em> Olanike said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>I hope my journey will motivate young Nigerians, especially women, to chase their dreams and overcome barriers<\/em>,\u201d she added.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, also praised Balogun\u2019s accomplishment, recognizing it as a testament to the NCS&#8217;s commitment to fostering talent and innovation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Her story exemplifies what is possible with determination and institutional support,<\/em>\u201d Adeniyi remarked.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Olanike Nafisat Balogun becomes the first female pilot in the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
