{"id":348993,"date":"2024-12-12T17:52:33","date_gmt":"2024-12-12T16:52:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=348993"},"modified":"2024-12-12T17:58:28","modified_gmt":"2024-12-12T16:58:28","slug":"breaking-gov-yusuf-sacks-ssg-scraps-chief-of-staffs-office","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/12\/12\/breaking-gov-yusuf-sacks-ssg-scraps-chief-of-staffs-office\/","title":{"rendered":"BREAKING: Gov Yusuf sacks SSG, Chief of Staff, 5 commissioners"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong><strong>Says the reshuffle is part of Governor Yusuf\u2019s strategy to realign his administration for \u201coptimum performance\u201d and deliver \u201cmore dividends of democracy\u201d to the people of Kano State<\/strong><\/strong><br \/>\n<hr \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has reshuffled his cabinet, scrapped the Chief of Staff (CoS) portfolio, and removed the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Abdullahi Bichi.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement was made during a press briefing by the Governor\u2019s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>According to the statement, the reshuffle is part of Governor Yusuf\u2019s strategy to realign his administration for \u201coptimum performance\u201d and deliver \u201cmore dividends of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/12\/06\/weak-opposition-threatens-democracy-says-adc-chairman\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">democracy<\/a>\u201d to the people of Kano State.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the first major reshuffle of my cabinet, and it takes immediate effect,\u201d Governor Yusuf stated. \u201cThe decision was made to enhance administrative performance and ensure a pragmatic political realignment that prioritizes the needs of Kano residents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The shake-up saw the removal of the Chief of Staff, Shehu Sagagi, whose office has been abolished. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, the SSG, was also dropped, reportedly due to health reasons.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Resigned portfolios\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The reshuffle affected several key ministries, with some commissioners retaining their positions while others were reassigned. Among those retained are:<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Barr. Haruna Isa Dederi, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Dr. Danjuma Mahmoud, Commissioner for Agriculture<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Dr. Abubakar Labaran, Commissioner for Health<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Engr. Marwan Ahmad, Commissioner for Works and Housing<\/p>\n<p>Another development saw the Deputy Governor Comrade Aminu Abdulssalam moving from the Ministry of Local Government to the Ministry of Higher Education. Hon. Mohammad Tajo Usman takes over Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, while Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar Mata moves from Higher Education to Science, Technology, and Innovation.<\/p>\n<p>Hon. Amina Abdullahi, previously overseeing Humanitarian and Poverty Alleviation, now heads the Ministry for Women, Children, and Persons with Disabilities. Hon.
