{"id":349545,"date":"2024-12-17T18:31:14","date_gmt":"2024-12-17T17:31:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=349545"},"modified":"2024-12-17T18:31:14","modified_gmt":"2024-12-17T17:31:14","slug":"edo-govt-gives-ighodalo-others-72-hrs-to-return-govt-vehicles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/12\/17\/edo-govt-gives-ighodalo-others-72-hrs-to-return-govt-vehicles\/","title":{"rendered":"Edo govt gives Ighodalo, others 72-hrs to return govt vehicles"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong><strong>Says some of the vehicles belonging to the moribund government transport company, Edo Line were allegedly sold and have been discovered in a spare parts market in Benin City<\/strong><\/strong><br \/>\n<hr \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Edo State Government has issued the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), in the last governorship election in the state, Asue Ighodalo and other supporters of the party a 72-hour ultimatum to return government vehicles in their possession.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that Governor Monday Okpebholo had established an assets recovery committee to recover government assets including vehicles still in the hands of private individuals.<\/p>\n<p>Chairman of the committee, Kelly Okungbowa, gave the order on Tuesday, 17th of December, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, some of the vehicles belonging to the moribund government transport company, Edo Line were allegedly sold and have been discovered in a spare parts market in Benin City, the state capital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to use this medium to appeal to those people whose names have been mentioned, to please return those vehicles to the authorities, because they are not my property. Those vehicles are the property of the state government, for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/12\/17\/just-in-edo-assembly-suspends-lg-chairmen-deputies-over-insurbodination\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Edo<\/a> people. And we all know the cost of buying one vehicle. To buy a brand new Hilux costs you nothing less than N120 million. Where do they expect the governor to get that kind of money to purchase new vehicles?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to appeal to them, especially the candidate of the PDP, Barrister Asue Ighodalo and his running mate. It is good for us to also advise them as a father and leader in the state, that they should do the right thing by returning those vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt may interest you that those vehicles that have recovered- the governor has directed that we should reallocate them to the agencies, and we have done that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The committee also mentioned the names of officials attached to the previous administration who are allegedly still in possession of government vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>It advised that such vehicles be returned within the next 72
