{"id":351654,"date":"2025-01-07T19:14:47","date_gmt":"2025-01-07T18:14:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=351654"},"modified":"2025-01-07T19:14:47","modified_gmt":"2025-01-07T18:14:47","slug":"peter-obis-allegation-against-me-false-i-didnt-threaten-his-life-apcs-morka","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2025\/01\/07\/peter-obis-allegation-against-me-false-i-didnt-threaten-his-life-apcs-morka\/","title":{"rendered":"Peter Obi\u2019s allegation against me false, I didn&#8217;t threaten his life \u2013 APC&#8217;s Morka"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Morka stated that Obi misinterpreted his statement and he never threatened his life, stressing that the former Anambra State governor should set the record straight<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Spokesman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Felix Morka, has denied claims that he threatened the Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate, Peter Obi.<\/p>\n<p>Morka said Obi\u2019s claims of threat to his life are false and that he didn&#8217;t say or do anything that constitutes threat to the life of the former presidential candidate or his family.<\/p>\n<p>Obi had accused Morka of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2025\/01\/06\/my-life-in-danger-for-criticising-tinubus-govt-peter-obi\/\">threatening his life<\/a> following his criticism of President Bola Tinubu\u2019s administration in his New Year message.<\/p>\n<p>Obi\u2019s allegation followed a statement made by Morka, in an interview with Arise TV on Sunday, where he claimed, \u201cPeter Obi has crossed the line so many times and he has what\u2019s coming to him, and whatever he gets, he should manage it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reacting, Morka stated that Obi misinterpreted his statement and he never threatened his life, stressing that the former Anambra State governor should set the record straight.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement he signed, the APC spokesman said: \u201cOn his verified official X handle, Mr Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, has alleged, in his own words, that \u201cmy New Year Message has now led to threats to my life, my family, and those around me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile I have received all sorts of messages, one Mr. Felix Morka has gone further to accuse me of \u201ccrossing the line\u201d and has warned that I will face consequences.\u201d Ostensibly, Mr Obi\u2019s allegation is in reference to Morka\u2019s answer to a question during an interview on AriseTV\u2019s THIS WEEK program on Saturday, January 4, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo be clear and for the record, Morka did not threaten Mr Obi or his family or those around him or anyone. Morka has absolutely no reason to, and has never, threatened Obi or anyone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNothing that Morka said in that interview or any other forum remotely contains or suggests threat against Mr. Obi or anyone else, as the verbatim transcription of the relevant clip indisputably attests.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr. Obi\u2019s allegation that Morka threatened his life is a self-evident malicious lie and an attention-seeking, playing-the-victim, emotional blackmail. His claim is patently false and reprehensible.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy falsely claiming that Morka threatened his life, Mr. Obi has libeled Morka in the extreme, and has incited his online mob to make death threats against Morka and members of his family.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is unacceptable. As a public figure, Mr. Obi bears a responsibility to provide accurate and truthful information. Instead, he has chosen to peddle falsehood and mislead Nigerians in quest for political currency and relevance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe call on Mr. Obi to immediately set the record straight, withdraw his false allegation against Morka, and call his online supporters to order.
