{"id":351916,"date":"2025-01-10T08:29:01","date_gmt":"2025-01-10T07:29:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=351916"},"modified":"2025-01-10T08:29:01","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T07:29:01","slug":"driver-burned-to-death-in-lagos-auto-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2025\/01\/10\/driver-burned-to-death-in-lagos-auto-crash\/","title":{"rendered":"Driver burned to death in Lagos auto crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>The driver was said to have lost control of the vehicle collided with a moving truck, causing an eruption of inferno that engulfed the vehicle<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2025\/01\/06\/just-in-tinubu-jets-out-of-lagos-for-accra\/\">Lagos State<\/a>, a deadly road accident on Thursday claimed the life of a yet-to-be-identified driver.<\/p>\n<p>The driver was burnt to death during the incident which happened along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.<\/p>\n<p>The driver was said to have lost control of the vehicle collided with a moving truck, causing an eruption of inferno that engulfed the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson for the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Adebayo Taofiq, confirmed the incident on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Taofiq stated that the impact of the collision led the vehicle to catch fire while the driver was trapped in the inferno.<\/p>\n<p>He disclosed that efforts by emergency responders could not rescue the driver from death as he was recovered dead.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cThe incident involved a Toyota Highlander Jeep (GGE 432 JC) and an empty Sino tipper truck.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPreliminary investigations indicate that the Toyota Highlander Jeep, travelling inward Ajah, lost control while in motion, veered across the expressway, and collided with the moving Sino tipper truck heading toward Epe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe collision resulted in the Toyota Highlander catching fire, with the driver tragically trapped inside.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The body of the driver was said to have been handed over to his family.<\/p>\n<p>He continued, \u201cLASTMA Officers, in conjunction with the Lagos State Fire Services (Epe Division), acted swiftly to extinguish the fire and recover the remains of the driver.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe deceased\u2019s body was subsequently handed over to his family members, who arrived at the scene from Epe.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The driver was said to have lost control of the vehicle collided with a moving truck, causing an eruption of inferno that engulfed the vehicle.
