{"id":352058,"date":"2025-01-11T22:22:57","date_gmt":"2025-01-11T21:22:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=352058"},"modified":"2025-01-11T22:22:57","modified_gmt":"2025-01-11T21:22:57","slug":"tcn-clears-air-on-rumoured-grid-collapse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2025\/01\/11\/tcn-clears-air-on-rumoured-grid-collapse\/","title":{"rendered":"TCN clears air on \u2018rumoured grid collapse&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong><strong>Confirmed that the tripping off affected the bulk supply of electricity to the Lagos axis<\/strong><\/strong><br \/>\n<hr \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Transmission Company, (TCN), of Nigeria has explained that the National Grid did not collapse but rather tripped off on Saturday, January 11, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson of TCN, Ndidi Mbah, made this clarification in a statement on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>TCN said that the Benin-Omotosho line tripped off at around 13:41 pm on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>TCN, also confirmed that the tripping off affected the bulk supply of electricity to the Lagos axis.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/12\/29\/blackout-in-abuja-as-tcn-begins-maintenance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TCN<\/a>, electricity generation at the national grid stood at 2,573.23 megawatts after the tripping.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBenin-Omotosho Line Tripping, Not System Collapse The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, hereby states that the nation\u2019s grid did not experience any collapse today (Saturday).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEarlier today, at about 13:41 hrs, the Osogbo-Ihovbor line tripped, followed by the tripping of the Benin-Omotosho line. These consequently affected bulk supply to only the Lagos axis alone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is important to clarify that at about 13:00 hrs today, just before the tripping, total generation on the grid was 4,335.63 MW.
