{"id":352117,"date":"2025-01-12T21:13:39","date_gmt":"2025-01-12T20:13:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=352117"},"modified":"2025-01-12T21:13:39","modified_gmt":"2025-01-12T20:13:39","slug":"kano-emirate-impasse-bayero-to-challenge-appeal-court-judgement-at-supreme-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2025\/01\/12\/kano-emirate-impasse-bayero-to-challenge-appeal-court-judgement-at-supreme-court\/","title":{"rendered":"Kano Emirate impasse: Bayero to challenge Appeal Court judgement at Supreme Court"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>The appellate court had on Friday nullified a Federal High Court order that removed Muhammadu Sanusi II as the 16th Emir of Kano.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero says he will not accept the judgement of the Appeal Court on the legitimate Emir of the Kano Emirate.<\/p>\n<p>The appellate court had on Friday nullified a Federal High Court order that removed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2025\/01\/12\/kano-emirate-impasse-firell-consume-them-emir-sanusi-sends-message-to-adversaries\/\">Muhammadu Sanusi<\/a> II as the 16th Emir of Kano.<\/p>\n<p>Bayero, while Speaking to newsmen on Sunday, said he is heading to Supreme Court to contest the appeal court verdict.<\/p>\n<p>He spoke at the Nasarawa Palace of the 15th Emir Of Kano, the Sarkin Dawaki Babba, Aminu Babba DanAgundi, who filed the suit that was struck out by the Appeal Court, said, \u201cSanusi did not even understand that he has completely lost out in the whole of the cases at hand.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Bayero also chided Emir for using religious house to spread falsehood.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is why I expressed regrets over remarks by the 16th Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II, using the Mosque pillar to propagate something that was not true and did not happen at the Appeal Court.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe initially went to Federal High Court seeking the nullification of the repeal law by the State Assembly, which we felt was done haphazardly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>DanAgundi further warned Sanusi to stop parading himself as the Emir of Kano.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe position of Muhammadu Sanusi II that he emerged victorious was wrong, the court said that the Federal High Court has no legal right to hear issues with regards to chieftaincy affairs. But what we went to court for was different.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were not arguing on the powers of State Assembly to enact of repeal laws, what we were asking was lack of fair hearing on the 15th Emir Aminu Ado Bayero, that he was removed without given him chance to protect himself.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe State Assembly didn\u2019t follow the right procedures in repealing the laws,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>He asked the Police and the DSS to stop Sanusi from allegedly moving around with thugs, accusing the Emir of plotting to disrupt peace in Kano.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, Sanusi will not claim victory until the Supreme Court judgement has been given.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Attorney General and Speaker of the Kano State Assembly went to court seeking to stop Bayero from parading himself as Emir, but the Appeal Court rejected that position and said that Bayero was not given fair hearing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy this it clearly shows that Bayero is still the Emir of Kano.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The appellate court had on Friday nullified a Federal High Court order that removed Muhammadu Sanusi II as the 16th Emir of Kano.
