standards, brain drain, and social unrest if passed<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Dani Mamman, the Zonal Coordinator of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Yola Zone, has raised concerns about the Nigeria Tax Bill 2024&#8217;s devastating impact on public tertiary education in Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>According to Mamman, the bill&#8217;s provisions will dismantle the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), a lifeline for public <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/02\/23\/fg-approves-2-more-private-universities-total-reaches-149\/\">universities<\/a>, and throw the educational system into disarray.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe future of public tertiary education in Nigeria hangs in the balance,\u201d Mamman warned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf this bill is passed, it will have far-reaching consequences for our universities, our students, and our nation as a whole.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mamman explained that the bill will divert funds meant for TETFund to other agencies, leaving public universities without the resources they need to operate effectively.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis will lead to a decline in academic standards, brain drain, stifled research, and increased social unrest,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur universities will be unable to attract and retain top talent, and our students will suffer as a result.<\/p>\n<p>\u201d ASUU is urging the National Assembly, the government, and all stakeholders to oppose the bill and protect TETFund.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe must stand united to defend our education system and ensure that our universities can continue
