{"id":352998,"date":"2025-01-20T12:22:43","date_gmt":"2025-01-20T11:22:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=352998"},"modified":"2025-01-20T12:23:41","modified_gmt":"2025-01-20T11:23:41","slug":"navy-seizes-vessel-with-40000-litres-of-stolen-crude-oil-in-ondo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2025\/01\/20\/navy-seizes-vessel-with-40000-litres-of-stolen-crude-oil-in-ondo\/","title":{"rendered":"Navy seizes vessel with 40,000 litres of stolen crude oil in Ondo"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Usman added that the Nigerian Navy will not relent in its efforts against any form of economic sabotage to the country.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The Nigerian Navy has seized vessel with 40,000 litres of stolen crude oil in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2025\/01\/20\/ondo-police-arrest-child-trafficking-syndicate-rescue-14-stolen-children\/\"><strong>Ondo<\/strong><\/a> State over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The Forward Operating Base, FOB, in Igbokoda, intercepted the boat at Obe-Nla, a coastal community in Ilaje Local Government Area.<\/p>\n<p>According to Navy Captain Aliyu Usman, FOB&#8217;s Commanding Officer, the illicit activity was exposed through reliable intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>Usman disclosed that upon receiving intel, a Quick Response Team, QRT, stationed at Awoye, was deployed to the community, leading to the discovery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt about 0700 hours, the QRT team arrived at the Obe-Nla seaside and discovered the wooden boat, approximately 30 meters in length, beached near a recently deactivated illegal refining site.<\/p>\n<p>The commanding officer revealed that \u201cthe vessel, powered by a 40 HP outboard engine, was laden with the stolen crude oil.<\/p>\n<p>Two additional locally fabricated wooden boats, equipped with outboard engines and other items, were confiscated according to standard procedures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe operation concluded successfully, with the team returning to their base at Awoye by 1500 hours.<\/p>\n<p>Relevant geo-tagged evidence has been forwarded to the authorities for further action.<\/p>\n<p>Usman emphasized that the Nigerian Navy will persist in combating economic sabotage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe perpetrators of illegal bunkering and crude oil theft are advised to engage in other legitimate businesses within the maritime environment.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Usman added that the Nigerian Navy will not relent in its efforts against any form of economic sabotage to the country.
