{"id":353511,"date":"2025-01-24T07:21:43","date_gmt":"2025-01-24T06:21:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=353511"},"modified":"2025-01-24T07:21:43","modified_gmt":"2025-01-24T06:21:43","slug":"how-we-routed-bandits-pushed-them-out-of-kano-forest-ganduje","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2025\/01\/24\/how-we-routed-bandits-pushed-them-out-of-kano-forest-ganduje\/","title":{"rendered":"How we routed bandits, pushed them out of Kano forest \u2013 Ganduje"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Ganduje commended the efforts of Governor Bago in maintaining peace within the state despite its vast landmass and numerous forests.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has recounted how his administration tackled banditry when he was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2025\/01\/19\/indian-based-nigerian-student-arrested-in-kano-for-attempted-cocaine-smuggling\/\">Kano State<\/a> governor.<\/p>\n<p>This even as he implored the military to conquer forests to end the challenge of banditry in Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>Ganduje spoke during a sympathy visit to Niger State governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, over the death of dozens of citizens in a tanker explosion last week in the state.<\/p>\n<p>According to Ganduje, there is a need for proactive and decisive measures, particularly targeting the criminal elements hiding in forests, to end the trend of banditry in the country.<\/p>\n<p>According to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, on Thursday in Abuja, the APC helmsman stated that when he was governor of Kano he sought the intervention of federal government to rid Kano&#8217;s forest of bandits that turned its to their enclave.<\/p>\n<p>Ganduje commended the efforts of Governor Bago in maintaining peace within the state despite its vast landmass and numerous forests.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe solution to this menace is to conquer the forests. The bandits are in the forest. Why have we been on the defensive instead of being on the offensive?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I was the governor of Kano State, I requested through the federal government that the military takes over Falgore forest and the military built a military training ground there. That was how bandits were chased away from that forest and Kano is at peace,\u201d Ganduje said.<\/p>\n<p>Responding, Governor Bago appreciated the solidarity of the APC leadership and urged the federal government to address critical infrastructure issues, including the Suleja-Minna road, to reduce accidents and improve safety in the state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ganduje commended the efforts of Governor Bago in maintaining peace within the state despite its vast landmass and numerous forests.
