{"id":35372,"date":"2021-05-19T07:56:03","date_gmt":"2021-05-19T06:56:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=35372"},"modified":"2021-05-19T07:56:03","modified_gmt":"2021-05-19T06:56:03","slug":"okowa-announces-full-autonomy-for-delta-judiciary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/05\/19\/okowa-announces-full-autonomy-for-delta-judiciary\/","title":{"rendered":"Okowa announces full autonomy for Delta judiciary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Executive Governor of Delta, Ifeanyi Okowa has stated that the state judiciary has been granted financial autonomy.<\/p>\n<p>This was stated by Okowa on Tuesday\u00a0when he held a meeting with Marshal Umokoro, chief judge of the state.<\/p>\n<p>The governor in a statement after the meeting added that\u00a0with the development, the state legislature and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/05\/13\/judiciary-workers-gives-fresh-condition-to-end-strike\/\">judiciary<\/a> now have full autonomy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEarlier today, at a meeting with the chief judge of Delta State, Justice Marshal Umukoro, and other judges in the state\u2019s judiciary, I was pleased to announce that in line with the law, Delta state\u2019s judiciary has been accorded full autonomy,\u201d Okowa said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is because, with my signing of the judiciary autonomy law in January 2021, and the setting up of the relevant committees by the chief judge, our great state has begun the process of implementing full autonomy for its judiciary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we work to improve our democratic processes across the board, we are proud that Delta State now has both a legislature and judiciary that are fully autonomous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Recall that President Muhammadu on May 22, 2020 signed into law the executive order 10\u00a0which made it mandatory for all states to include the allocations of both the legislature and the judiciary in the first-line charge of their budgets.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Executive Governor of Delta, Ifeanyi Okowa has stated that the state judiciary has been granted financial autonomy.
