{"id":353862,"date":"2025-01-27T13:43:13","date_gmt":"2025-01-27T12:43:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=353862"},"modified":"2025-01-27T13:43:13","modified_gmt":"2025-01-27T12:43:13","slug":"salome-adaidu-court-remands-gospel-singer-timileyin-ajayi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2025\/01\/27\/salome-adaidu-court-remands-gospel-singer-timileyin-ajayi\/","title":{"rendered":"Salome Adaidu: Court remands gospel singer Timileyin Ajayi"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong><strong>Case adjourned<\/strong><\/strong><br \/>\n<hr \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A Nasarawa State High Court on Monday remanded a man, Timilehin Ajayi, at a correctional facility over the killing of his 24-year old girlfriend, Salome Enejo.<\/p>\n<p>Ajayi, whose address was not given, is being charged with culpable homicide.<\/p>\n<p>Ajayi was arraigned at the High Court of Justice, Lafia before Justice Simon Aboki on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The state Counsel, Stanley Ifeanyi, told the court that Ajayi killed Enejo, a member of the National Youth Service Corps, in the FCT.<\/p>\n<p>Ifeanyi said that the offence violated Section 221 of the Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria, and was punishable with death.<\/p>\n<p>The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge<\/p>\n<p>The presiding judge, Justice Simon Aboki, remanded Ajayi at the Lafia Custodial Centre, and adjourned the case to March 17, 2025 for a hearing.<\/p>\n<p>He pledged to give the case an accelerated hearing because of its seriousness and sensitive nature.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Case adjourned A Nasarawa State High Court on Monday remanded a man, Timilehin Ajayi, at a correctional facility over the killing of his 24-year old girlfriend, Salome Enejo.
