{"id":354435,"date":"2025-02-01T09:30:57","date_gmt":"2025-02-01T08:30:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=354435"},"modified":"2025-02-01T09:30:57","modified_gmt":"2025-02-01T08:30:57","slug":"cbn-approves-cfa-for-repatriation-of-export-proceeds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2025\/02\/01\/cbn-approves-cfa-for-repatriation-of-export-proceeds\/","title":{"rendered":"CBN approves CFA for repatriation of export proceeds"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Ayeni also mentioned that the council, through its regional and state offices, has begun integrating informal border trade into the formal system.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><b>The executive director said the initiative will boost foreign exchange earnings and improve the country\u2019s export data collection.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2025\/01\/17\/cbn-unveils-docflow-mda-naira-payment-solution\/\"><strong>The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)<\/strong><\/a> has given the green light for the inclusion of the CFA Franc on Nigeria Export Proceeds (NXP) forms.<\/p>\n<p>This development facilitates the repatriation of export proceeds, as confirmed by the Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC).<\/p>\n<p>The executive director of the NEPC, Mrs. Nonye Ayeni, shared this update while briefing journalists on the Non-Oil Export Performance for 2024 in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>Ayeni revealed that the council had previously engaged the CBN to explore the inclusion of the CFA Franc, aiming to enhance trade activities.<\/p>\n<p>According to Ayeni, the CFA Franc is now an accepted currency for export proceeds, receivable by bankers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am delighted to inform you that the CBN has magnanimously approved CFA to be captured on NXP forms for the repatriation of export proceeds.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We will be working with CBN and the banks to ensure full implementation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I must say that this is a remarkable breakthrough for the council and further reaffirms the impact of the council\u2019s current flagship programme,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>The NEPC has also made significant strides in supporting export growth, notably certifying 400 small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) exporters.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ayeni also mentioned that the council, through its regional and state offices, has begun integrating informal border trade into the formal system.
