Kaufman Funeral Home in Elkridge, Maryland<\/strong><\/strong><br \/>\n<hr \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A Nigerian cardiologist based in the United States, Dr. Ikenna Erinne, has reportedly died by suicide after losing a child support case to his ex-wife.<\/p>\n<p>The 36-year-old, originally from Anambra State, is said to have taken his own life on Sunday, January 26, after a US court ordered him to pay $15,000 in monthly child support.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Erinne had been embroiled in a prolonged legal battle over child custody and financial obligations. Reports suggest that the court ruling, combined with mounting legal fees, took a severe toll on his mental and financial well-being.<\/p>\n<p>A Nigerian-American, Clayton Udo, confirmed the incident in a post on X.com, describing it as a tragic outcome of a legal system that he believes disproportionately affects African men.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe shot himself to death. He spent thousands of dollars in legal fees \u2013 wasted money. I am talking about a process that impoverishes you,\u201d Udo wrote. \u201cHe lost his license as a cardiologist, was ordered to pay $15,000 a month, and had restricted access to his children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another member of the Nigerian community in the US, Obim Onujiogu, also confirmed Erinne\u2019s passing in a Facebook post.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Loving Memory of Dr. Ikenna C. It is with heavy hearts that the ASA DC family announces the sudden and untimely passing of Dr. Ikenna Erinne,\u201d Onujiogu wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Erinne\u2019s funeral is scheduled for Monday, February 3, at the Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home in Elkridge, Maryland.
