{"id":355624,"date":"2025-02-13T06:36:22","date_gmt":"2025-02-13T05:36:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=355624"},"modified":"2025-02-13T06:36:22","modified_gmt":"2025-02-13T05:36:22","slug":"suspended-unical-professor-denies-soliciting-nude-photos-from-student","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2025\/02\/13\/suspended-unical-professor-denies-soliciting-nude-photos-from-student\/","title":{"rendered":"Suspended UNICAL Professor Denies Soliciting Nude Photos from Student"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul class=\"marker:text-textOff list-disc\">\n<li><strong>Prof. Cyril Ndifon, UNICAL&#8217;s suspended law dean, denied soliciting nude photos from a student, calling her &#8220;like a daughter&#8221;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Ndifon refuted the ICPC&#8217;s evidence, claiming the conversations, images, and videos presented in court were edited and not his<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p data-pm-slice=\"1 1 []\">Prof. Cyril Ndifon, the suspended Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Calabar (UNICAL), has denied allegations that he requested nude photographs from a female student.<\/p>\n<p>Ndifon made this statement on Wednesday while being cross-examined by Osuobeni Akponimisingha, counsel for the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), at the Federal High Court in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>The ICPC arraigned <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/01\/09\/unical-professor-remanded-in-kuje-prison-over-harassment-charges\/\">Ndifon<\/a> on charges of sexual harassment, cybercrime, and attempting to obstruct justice. His lawyer, Samuel Anyanwu, was also charged alongside him.<\/p>\n<p>According to the ICPC, Ndifon allegedly asked a female student, a key witness in the case, to send him &#8220;pornographic, indecent, and obscene photographs&#8221; via WhatsApp while serving as Dean at UNICAL.<\/p>\n<p>However, during the hearing, Ndifon described the student, identified as TKJ, as being like a daughter to him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI got to know her through her uncle. She never sent me nude pictures, and I never asked for them,\u201d Ndifon stated.<\/p>\n<p>He also refuted claims that the conversations, images, and videos presented by the ICPC came from his phone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are not mine. If you examine them, they have been edited. I have no idea where these conversations and videos originated,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Justice James Omotosho adjourned the case until Thursday for further
