{"id":355657,"date":"2025-02-13T08:48:43","date_gmt":"2025-02-13T07:48:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=355657"},"modified":"2025-02-13T08:48:43","modified_gmt":"2025-02-13T07:48:43","slug":"2023-polls-lp-factional-spokesperson-accuses-kenneth-okonkwo-of-working-for-tinubu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2025\/02\/13\/2023-polls-lp-factional-spokesperson-accuses-kenneth-okonkwo-of-working-for-tinubu\/","title":{"rendered":"2023 polls: LP factional spokesperson accuses Kenneth Okonkwo of working for Tinubu"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Peter Obi was the LP&#8217;s presidential candidate in 2023 but lost to President Bola Tinubu, the then-candidate of the APC.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The former Anambra governor came third in the polls, trailing behind Atiku Abubakar, former vice president, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The spokesperson of the Lamidi Apapa-led faction of Labour Party (LP), Abayomi Arabambi, has claimed Kenneth Okonkwo is returning to All Progressives Congress (APC).<\/p>\n<p>Okonkwo, former campaign spokesperson for LP in 2023 elections, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2025\/02\/13\/kenneth-okonkwo-a-mole-worked-against-obi-in-2023-his-exit-a-relief-labour-party\/\"><strong>resigned<\/strong><\/a> from the party on Tuesday, citing internal crisis and leadership struggles.<\/p>\n<p>In 2022, Okonkwo left APC for LP due to APC&#8217;s Muslim-Muslim ticket for 2023 presidential poll.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on Channels Television&#8217;s Politics Today, Arabambi accused Okonkwo of colluding with ruling party, lacking loyalty to LP.<\/p>\n<p>Arabambi described Okonkwo&#8217;s exit as &#8220;good riddance&#8221; for LP, which plans to unseat present administration in 2027.<\/p>\n<p>He said the LP will not tolerate &#8220;political rascality&#8221; and is taking steps to remove those with external loyalties.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe wish Mr Kenneth Okonkwo well. His resignation is good riddance to bad rubbish. He should not speak about the Labour Party anymore,&#8221;Arabambi said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dThere is no leadership crisis in the Labour Party. The party is not going into extinction; it is just a figment of the imaginations of most of our detractors.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He&#8217;s going back to APC. He&#8217;s been working with President Inubo before, that Kenneth Okonkwo. He worked with them against Peter Obi and Atiku in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We know he&#8217;s still going back there. We wish him well. We will meet in the political session in 2027.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But in 2027 we are not going to have such political rascality in our party.
