{"id":356386,"date":"2025-02-20T07:22:37","date_gmt":"2025-02-20T06:22:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=356386"},"modified":"2025-02-20T07:22:37","modified_gmt":"2025-02-20T06:22:37","slug":"pdp-crisis-court-rejects-anyanwus-motion-to-overturn-removal-as-partys-scribe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2025\/02\/20\/pdp-crisis-court-rejects-anyanwus-motion-to-overturn-removal-as-partys-scribe\/","title":{"rendered":"PDP crisis: Court rejects Anyanwu&#8217;s motion to overturn removal as party\u2019s scribe"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Anyanwu had filed an ex parte application praying the court to stop INEC or its agents from receiving or acting upon correspondences or submissions from the PDP unless signed by him.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The embattled <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2025\/02\/19\/osun-lg-crisis-igp-plotting-to-assassinate-gov-adeleke-pdp-raises-alarm\/\">Peoples Democratic Party<\/a> National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, may not remain in office for long after losing the bid to reverse his removal.<\/p>\n<p>This is after a Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday rejected Anyanwu&#8217;s request to prevent the Independent National Electoral Commission from giving effect to his removal as the party\u2019s national secretary.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Inyang Ekwo instructed Anyanwu to inform INEC and other defendants in the suit to allow the court to hear their side of the matter.<\/p>\n<p>Anyanwu, through his counsel, Ken Njemanze (SAN), had filed an ex parte application, urging the court to stop INEC or its agents from receiving or acting upon correspondences or submissions from the PDP unless signed by him.<\/p>\n<p>He also sought an order restraining the acting National Chairman, Amb Umar Damagum, from forwarding any correspondence, documents, or written submissions to INEC without his signature.<\/p>\n<p>After considering Anyanwu\u2019s arguments, Justice Ekwo ruled that while a case of urgency had been established, the court would not grant the requested reliefs through an ex parte application.<\/p>\n<p>He stressed the need to hear from the defendants before making any orders.<\/p>\n<p>Consequently, Justice Ekwo directed Anyanwu to serve court processes on INEC and Damagum and ordered both parties to appear in court on February 24 for the hearing of the case<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Anyanwu had filed an ex parte application praying the court to stop INEC or its agents from receiving or acting upon correspondences or submissions from the PDP unless signed by him.
