{"id":356567,"date":"2025-02-21T13:10:59","date_gmt":"2025-02-21T12:10:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=356567"},"modified":"2025-02-21T13:10:59","modified_gmt":"2025-02-21T12:10:59","slug":"tcn-announces-seven-hour-power-outage-in-parts-of-abuja","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2025\/02\/21\/tcn-announces-seven-hour-power-outage-in-parts-of-abuja\/","title":{"rendered":"TCN announces seven-hour power outage in parts of Abuja"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Power will be interrupted in several areas during the scheduled<\/strong> <strong><strong>maintenance<\/strong><\/strong><br \/>\n<hr \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Transmission Company of Nigeria has announced a planned seven-hour power outage in parts of Abuja due to scheduled annual preventive maintenance on two transformers at the Apo 132\/33kV Transmission Substation.<\/p>\n<p>A statement from the General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, on Friday, confirmed that the maintenance will take place on Saturday, February 22, and Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm each day.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, power will be interrupted in several areas during the scheduled maintenance.<\/p>\n<p>The statement read, \u201cThe Transmission Company of Nigeria informs the public that its maintenance crew will conduct annual preventive maintenance on the 2x100MVA, TR3 &amp; TR4 transformers at the Apo 132\/33kV Transmission Substation in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe planned power interruptions are unavoidable, as Abuja DisCo will be unable to receive bulk power supply from the transformers during the maintenance period. Power supply will be restored to the affected areas upon completion of the maintenance exercise.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The TCN official said that on Saturday, February 22, power disruptions will affect the National Hospital, G2 Injection Station, Garki, Area 1, and Asokoro for seven hours.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, February 23, areas including Apo Legislative Quarters, Apo Resettlement, Gudu, Apo Mechanic, and surrounding areas will also experience a seven-hour power outage.<\/p>\n<p>TCN explained that the interruption is necessary as Abuja Electricity Distribution Company will be unable to receive bulk power supply from the affected transformers during the maintenance period.<\/p>\n<p>It also apologised for any inconvenience caused to the affected customers during this time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPower supply will be restored once the maintenance exercise is completed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe apologise for any inconvenience this may cause the affected electricity customers,\u201d the statement concluded.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Power will be interrupted in several areas during the scheduled maintenance The Transmission Company of Nigeria has announced a planned seven-hour power outage in parts of Abuja due to scheduled annual preventive maintenance on two transformers at the Apo 132\/33kV Transmission Substation.
