{"id":358275,"date":"2025-03-14T14:16:28","date_gmt":"2025-03-14T13:16:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=358275"},"modified":"2025-03-14T14:16:28","modified_gmt":"2025-03-14T13:16:28","slug":"dangote-refinery-reduces-petrol-price-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2025\/03\/14\/dangote-refinery-reduces-petrol-price-again\/","title":{"rendered":"Dangote Refinery reduces petrol price again"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>However, unlike the last price reduction in February 26, 2025, Dangote Refinery did not officially announce the new price reduction<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2025\/03\/11\/weve-not-stopped-sale-of-crude-in-naira-to-dangote-other-local-refiners-fg\/\">Dangote<\/a> Refinery ex-depot premium motor spirit (PMS) price has again undergone a downward review.<\/p>\n<p>This is as the company reduced the price of PMS, popularly known as petrol, to N815 per litre.<\/p>\n<p>This latest price drop follows a decline in fuel landing cost to N774.82 per litre, below Dangote Refinery\u2019s N825 ex-depot prices.<\/p>\n<p>However, unlike the last price reduction in February 26, 2025, Dangote Refinery did not officially announce the new price reduction.<\/p>\n<p>The development comes amid the ongoing price war between major players in Nigeria\u2019s downstream oil sector.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Chinedu Ukadike, confirmed the development.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is true. There is speculation that the price of imported products is now lower. That is the reason for the price war.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is the beauty of deregulation. Dangote has millions of litres and would not want any external force to take its market share. So it would have forced the price reduction,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, it is not immediately certain if Dangote\u2019s latest petrol price reduction will spur a drop in retail price across its filling stations, such as MRS, which sells for N860 per litre in Lagos and N880 in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>In the past months, both Dangote Refinery and Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited have engaged in a price war.<\/p>\n<p>The Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association recently visited the Minister of State Petroleum, Heineken Lokpobiri, to advocate for fuel price stability and competitive pricing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>However, unlike the last price reduction in February 26, 2025, Dangote Refinery did not officially announce the new price reduction.
