{"id":361592,"date":"2025-07-30T18:55:33","date_gmt":"2025-07-30T17:55:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=361592"},"modified":"2025-07-30T18:56:08","modified_gmt":"2025-07-30T17:56:08","slug":"fg-completes-135-road-projects-in-north-transport-minister","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2025\/07\/30\/fg-completes-135-road-projects-in-north-transport-minister\/","title":{"rendered":"FG completes 135 road projects in north \u2014 transport minister"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>266 road construction projects are ongoing in the north, with hundreds more in the maintenance stage, according to the transport minister.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><b>Several highways including Calabar\u2013Abuja and Akwanga\u2013Jos\u2013Bauchi\u2013Gombe are among FG\u2019s legacy projects currently under construction.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The minister of transportation, Saidu Alkali, has said that the federal government has completed 135 road projects across northern Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>Alkali made the disclosure during a two-day interactive session hosted by the Ahmadu Bello Foundation on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>This was contained in a statement issued by Suleiman Haruna, director of public relations at the ministry of information and national orientation.<\/p>\n<p>The minister revealed that an additional 266 road construction projects are currently ongoing across the northern region.<\/p>\n<p>He also stated that 312 road maintenance projects have already been completed in various parts of the north.<\/p>\n<p>Alkali added that several major infrastructure works were in progress across Nigeria under the current administration\u2019s development strategy.<\/p>\n<p>He mentioned legacy projects such as the Sokoto\u2013Badagry Superhighway, Lagos\u2013Calabar Coastal Highway, and the Calabar\u2013Abuja Superhighway.<\/p>\n<p>Others listed include the Akwanga\u2013Jos\u2013Bauchi\u2013Gombe Road, which cuts across multiple states in the north.<\/p>\n<p>He said the greater Abuja water supply network project has also been completed and commissioned.<\/p>\n<p>The minister listed additional completed works to include the rehabilitation of numerous primary and secondary schools across different states.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, three world-class bus terminals have been constructed and inaugurated under the current administration.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that in the federal capital territory (FCT), 14 road projects had been completed and inaugurated.<\/p>\n<p>Alkali added that several other construction, rehabilitation, and expansion works were ongoing across the country.<\/p>\n<p>He said the infrastructure drive aligns with the president\u2019s Renewed Hope Agenda and national development strategy.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>266 road construction projects are ongoing in the north, with hundreds more in the maintenance stage, according to the transport minister.
