{"id":364606,"date":"2025-10-27T10:58:09","date_gmt":"2025-10-27T09:58:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=364606"},"modified":"2025-10-27T10:58:09","modified_gmt":"2025-10-27T09:58:09","slug":"dangote-refinery-to-become-worlds-biggest-plans-1-4-million-bpd-processing-capacity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2025\/10\/27\/dangote-refinery-to-become-worlds-biggest-plans-1-4-million-bpd-processing-capacity\/","title":{"rendered":"Dangote Refinery to become world\u2019s biggest, plans 1.4 million bpd processing capacity"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Over 65,000 workers to be engaged in the refinery\u2019s expansion phase, with 85 per cent being Nigerians.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The refinery to list on the Nigerian Exchange Limited in 2026, allowing citizens to buy shares.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The founder of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has announced an expansion that will raise the Dangote Petroleum Refinery\u2019s output from 650,000 barrels per day to 1.4 million barrels per day.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement was made at a press conference on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Dangote said the upgrade will position the facility above several existing refineries worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>He described the plan as an expression of confidence in Africa and in Nigeria\u2019s current leadership.<\/p>\n<p>Dangote added that the scheme is intended to help the continent manage more of its own energy needs.<\/p>\n<p>He gave a three-year timeline for completing the work.<\/p>\n<p>The project will make use of already established infrastructure to speed construction, he noted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is President Bola Tinubu\u2019s dream for Nigeria to emerge as one of the major petroleum hubs in the world,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Dangote said the expansion aims to meet growing demand within Africa and cut reliance on imported refined products.<\/p>\n<p>He predicted that the enlarged refinery would save and generate billions of dollars and strengthen national energy security.<\/p>\n<p>The businessman said the build-out will require about 65,000 workers during the expansion phase.<\/p>\n<p>He added that more than 85 per cent of those jobs will be filled by Nigerians, with ongoing investment in skills transfer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur goal has been to find opportunities for our people,\u201d Dangote added.<\/p>\n<p>He announced plans for the refinery to be listed on the Nigerian Exchange Limited in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the listing will allow Nigerians to buy shares and take ownership stakes in the refinery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to give all Nigerians the opportunity to own a part of the refinery.
