The Rivers State House of Assembly, on Thursday, initiated impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his Deputy, Ngozi Oduh, further exacerbating the political tension in the state. <\/p>\n
The impeachment notice was formally read at a plenary session presided over by Speaker, Martins Amaewhule, the Majority Leader of the House, Major Jack. <\/p>\n
In the notice which has received the support of 26 lawmakers, Fubara was accused of gross misconduct and actions that violated the Nigerian Constitution. <\/p>\n
Amaewhule announced that the notice would be served on the governor within the next seven days.<\/p>\n
