{"id":3675,"date":"2021-03-09T18:49:19","date_gmt":"2021-03-09T17:49:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=3675"},"modified":"2021-03-09T18:49:19","modified_gmt":"2021-03-09T17:49:19","slug":"religious-bias-allegedly-took-place-between-2010-and-2015-sheikh-gumi-replies-nigerian-army","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/03\/09\/religious-bias-allegedly-took-place-between-2010-and-2015-sheikh-gumi-replies-nigerian-army\/","title":{"rendered":"Religious bias allegedly took place between 2010 and 2015, Sheikh Gumi replies Nigerian army"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Black amnesty for bandits agitator and cleric, Sheikh Gumi has made a clarification on his comment of soldiers being<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>allegedly deployed along religious lines.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that Sheikh Gumi\u00a0had alleged that\u00a0non-Muslim soldiers had carried out killing of bandits which led to the increased attacks presently witnessed in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Following a statement issued by the Nigerian army which <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/03\/09\/army-to-gumi-we-dont-deploy-troops-along-ethnic-or-religious-lines\/\">countered the claim made by Sheikh Gumi<\/a><\/strong>, the Blanket Amnesty for Bandits agitator made\u00a0a clarification in an interview with BBC Pidgin.<\/p>\n<p>The Islamic cleric said in the interview that when he speaks about\u00a0religious issue in the army, he is not referring to today\u2019s army.<\/p>\n<p>He further said\u00a0that the religious bias allegedly took place in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/03\/03\/house-of-reps-atleast-386-soldiers-resigned-from-the-nigerian-army-in-one-year\/\">Nigerian Army<\/a>\u00a0between 2010 and 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Gumi said;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-transform: initial\">\u201cI saw what the army said. What I will say is that there is a misunderstanding in the issues. When I speak about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/03\/05\/insecurity-inter-faith-group-appeals-to-can-others-to-see-president-buhari-as-leader-for-all\/\">religious<\/a> issue in the army, I\u2019m not referring to today\u2019s army.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe issue is from 2010-2015 when some people who were in charge of the army and when a lot of bad things happened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was during that time, bombings happened everywhere.
