Governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike has stated that it is too early to say the murder of Ahmed Gulak, a former aide of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan is politically motivated.<\/p>\n

WITHIN NIGERIA had earlier reported that gunmen on Sunday shot a former presidential aide, Ahmed Gulak<\/a><\/strong>, to death while on his away to Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport in Imo State.<\/p>\n

According to the police, members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) were behind the murder and some of them have been killed.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a media briefing on Monday, Hope Uzodimma, governor of Imo, had said the murder<\/a> of Gulak\u00a0\u201cappears to be a clear case of political assassination\u201d<\/p>\n

Reacting to the development, Wike, in an interview with Channels Television on Monday, asked Uzodimma to allow security operatives conclude their investigation before attributing the murder to politicians.<\/p>\n

The Rivers governor said the comments of his Imo colleague show that Uzodimma already knows the outcome of the police investigation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe point is very clear. We should not try to politicise everything. I think the governor of Imo state, my brother, Hope Uzodimma, should allow the security agencies to do their proper investigation,\u201d Wike said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is too early for him to come out to say it is political assassination. Having done that, it means that you already know, and knowing a product of investigation means that you already know those who committed that crime and that will not be fair.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen things of this nature happen, allow the security agencies to really go into the matter.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wike also queried why a personality like Gulak will leave Imo without security detail, considering the rising insecurity in the south-east.<\/p>\n

\u201cRemember, even on the pages of the newspapers, when we heard this news, if I\u2019m correct, the police said Ahmed Gulak was killed by bandits. Police said when he left, he left without security,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, one will ask questions, knowing today the security situation in Nigeria and even the one in the south-east and not to talk of in Imo state.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all know what is going on in Imo state. How could a man at that level come to Imo state incognito?\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
