{"id":42979,"date":"2021-06-06T04:39:07","date_gmt":"2021-06-06T03:39:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=42979"},"modified":"2021-06-06T04:39:07","modified_gmt":"2021-06-06T03:39:07","slug":"two-men-arrested-for-allegedly-spending-fake-money-in-kwara","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/06\/06\/two-men-arrested-for-allegedly-spending-fake-money-in-kwara\/","title":{"rendered":"Two men arrested for allegedly spending fake money in Kwara"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two persons have been arrested for allegedly spending fake money by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Patigi Division, in Kwara State.<\/p>\n<p>The suspects, identified as Nicholas Kelechi (m) 25 years and Benjamin Moore (m) 42 years were arrested on Friday, at about 18:15hours at Yagba market, Patigi, in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State, while spending the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/02\/01\/photos-malian-troops-arrest-currency-counterfeiting-kingpin-seize-5-3bn-fake-notes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fake currency<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to the spokesman of the defence corps, Babawale Zaid Afolabi, in a statement in Ilorin, Benjamin Moore, described as the ring leader, hails from Ebonyi State, but resides in Iseyin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe is currently running two homes, having a wife in Iseyin with five children and another one in Enugu with four children.<\/p>\n<p>\u201d He confessed that a man he met at Lokoja, introduced him to the business,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n<p>Moore, said the man took him to Gurumaraji Temple at Ibadan to collect the fake money, using two hundred naira (N200) note to collect one thousand naira fake money.<\/p>\n<p>The statement said they decided to operate in far places like Yagba market in Kwara State where they cannot be easily traced.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe also confessed that it was his first attempt in the business,\u201d the statement stated.<\/p>\n<p>The two suspects are currently at the State headquarters of the civil defence corps for further investigation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two persons have been arrested for allegedly spending fake money by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Patigi Division, in Kwara State.
