{"id":4538,"date":"2021-03-13T17:50:14","date_gmt":"2021-03-13T16:50:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=4538"},"modified":"2021-03-13T17:50:14","modified_gmt":"2021-03-13T16:50:14","slug":"governors-are-in-support-of-financial-autonomy-for-state-assemblies-says-tambuwal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/03\/13\/governors-are-in-support-of-financial-autonomy-for-state-assemblies-says-tambuwal\/","title":{"rendered":"Governors are in support of financial autonomy for state assemblies, says Tambuwal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Executive Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal has stated that state governors have given their support to financial autonomy for state assemblies and judiciary.<\/p>\n<p>This is coming barely four days after the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) protested at the national\u00a0assembly over the non-implementation of financial autonomy for state assemblies.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari in May signed an\u00a0executive order granting financial autonomy to the legislature and the judiciary across the 36 states of the country.<\/p>\n<p>But the gazetting of the order was suspended by the president after meeting with governors in June, 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking after a meeting with Ibrahim Gambari, chief of staff to the president, some governors and a delegation of States Legislators Conference at Aso Rock, Tambuwal said the relevant stakeholders will meet next week to finalise the framework for the implementation of the financial autonomy.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the meeting was called at the instance of the president.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are here to meet the chief of staff on the instruction of Mr President and you can see that the leadership of the Speakers\u2019 Conference of the States of the Federation is here ably led by the Chairman. It is all about [Executive] Order 10, which has to do with the independence, financial autonomy of the legislature and the judiciary at the state level,\u201d a statement quoted him as saying.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, it is a continuous meeting and we are going to meet next week Thursday when we hope to finalise on the framework and modalities of implementing the autonomy of the state legislature and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/02\/20\/el-rufai-to-fg-give-us-state-police-allow-states-to-control-resources-and-decentralise-judiciary\/\">judiciary<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy next week Thursday we will be meeting to finalise the framework.
