Investigators in Spain have verified that the corpse discovered in the sea off the coast of Tenerife on Thursday is likely that of Olivia Gimeno.<\/p>\n<p>The body of the abducted six-year-old girl was discovered in a sports bag weighted down by an anchor more than 3,000 feet deep in the Atlantic Ocean, close to another empty sports bag.<\/p>\n<p>Olivia&#8217;s sister Anna who was also kidnapped and allegedly murdered has yet to be found. On Friday, Spanish rescuers searched the seas off the coast of Tenerife for a one-year-old child.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_45697\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-45697\" style=\"width: 308px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-45697\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/06\/ify_davies\/2021\/06\/12\/2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"308\" height=\"317\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/06\/ify_davies\/2021\/06\/12\/2.png 308w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/06\/ify_davies\/2021\/06\/12\/2-291x300.png 291w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 308px) 100vw, 308px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-45697\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Still Missing- Anna<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Olivia and Anna&#8217;s divorced mother claimed their father, Tomas, threatened her she would never see them again. Following the disappearance of Tomas Gimeno and his two daughters, an inquiry was begun.<\/p>\n<p>However, Beatriz Zimmerman, the mother of the two girls, has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/03\/10\/how-seven-bags-of-rice-saved-us-from-bandits-attack-customs-officer-recounts\/\">informed<\/a> of the discovery.<\/p>\n<p>Police say her ex Tomas Antonio Gimeno, 37, disappeared with the girls on April 27 after failing to return them to their home in Santa Cruz, Tenerife&#8217;s capital.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesman for Spanish police said: \u201cThe body was found by a robot from the search vessel Angeles Alvarino at midday [yesterday] around 1,000 metres below the water some three miles off the Tenerife coast.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_45698\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-45698\" style=\"width: 275px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-45698\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/06\/ify_davies\/2021\/06\/12\/2-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"275\" height=\"332\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/06\/ify_davies\/2021\/06\/12\/2-1.png 275w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/06\/ify_davies\/2021\/06\/12\/2-1-248x300.png 248w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/06\/ify_davies\/2021\/06\/12\/2-1-180x217.png 180w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/06\/ify_davies\/2021\/06\/12\/2-1-267x322.png 267w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 275px) 100vw, 275px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-45698\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Deceased- Olivia<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIt was inside a sports bag attached to an anchor. Next to it was another empty sports bag.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe body was taken to dry land for an autopsy. The vessel called Angeles Alvarino is continuing its search.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez reacting to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/04\/12\/father-who-defiled-his-6-year-old-daughter-arrested-after-days-on-the-run-in-kenya\/\">tragedy<\/a> tweeted: &#8220;I cannot begin to imagine the pain of the mother of little Anna and Olivia, who disappeared in Tenerife, following the terrible news we have just heard.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI send a hug and my love and that of my whole family, who today show solidarity with Beatriz and her loved ones.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jose Manuel Bermudez, the mayor of Tenerife capital Santa Cruz, announced a minute\u2019s silence for Anna and Olivia would be held at midday Friday, June 11.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cThere are no words to express the terrible desolation I feel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom respect at the mother\u2019s pain and with all the caution the terrible news that is reaching us deserves, I want to express to the family all the solidarity of the citizens of Santa Cruz.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Officials alleged that the body of a dead child discovered underwater inside a sports bag is certainly one of the girls who were abducted by their father, Tomas, on April 27.
