{"id":4590,"date":"2021-03-14T05:14:13","date_gmt":"2021-03-14T04:14:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=4590"},"modified":"2021-03-14T05:14:13","modified_gmt":"2021-03-14T04:14:13","slug":"reddington-hospital-presents-lekki-tollgate-victims-medical-records","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/03\/14\/reddington-hospital-presents-lekki-tollgate-victims-medical-records\/","title":{"rendered":"Reddington Hospital presents Lekki tollgate victims&#8217; medical records"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Babajide Lawson of Reddington Hospital Lagos, has presented the medical records of some of the patients the hospital treated following the Lekki toll gate \u2018shootings\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Lawson, a trauma and orthopaedic surgeons, on Saturday presented the case files to the Lagos State Judicial Panel on Restitution for Victims of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/03\/03\/endsars-oba-of-lagos-claims-hoodlums-stole-2m-n17m-from-his-palace\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SARS<\/a> and the Lekki Tollgate Incident.<\/p>\n<p>The counsel to the panel, Jonathan Ogunsanya, told the panel that he now had in his possession a total of 25 case notes submitted by the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that last month, Dr Lawson told the panel that the hospital dealt with mass casualties on October 20, but proper records of the number may not have been kept because the medical staff on duty were overwhelmed.<\/p>\n<p>He said the hospital was more concerned with saving lives and so did not prioritise the time patients arrived at its facility.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn the night of this event, in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/03\/04\/lagos-pastor-allegedly-sells-church-building-flees-to-unknown-location-over-rape-allegation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lekki<\/a> facility, when patients were brought in, it was a mass gathering situation in which case you have a large number of people presenting at the same time, literarily overwhelming the facility.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn that kind of situation, there are lots of cases that might be compromised.
