{"id":46566,"date":"2021-06-14T15:39:47","date_gmt":"2021-06-14T14:39:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=46566"},"modified":"2021-06-14T15:39:47","modified_gmt":"2021-06-14T14:39:47","slug":"second-niger-bridge-to-open-february-2022-fg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/06\/14\/second-niger-bridge-to-open-february-2022-fg\/","title":{"rendered":"Second Niger bridge to open February 2022 \u2013 FG"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigerian government has released a date for the opening to traffic of the 2nd Niger Bridge.<\/p>\n<p>The Managing Director and Chief Executive of National Inland Waterways, NIWA, George Moghalu, announced that the 2nd Niger Bridge will be opened to traffic from February 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Moghalu said this at the flag-off of a bathymetric survey of the Aghommili-Mmamu-Ezu-Nkisi-Niger River course, on Tuesday in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/06\/10\/just-in-inspector-killed-as-gunmen-attack-police-station-in-anambra\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Anambra<\/a> State.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cBy February next year 2022, the new 2nd Niger Bridge will be opened for vehicular use.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Muhammadu Buhari had flagged off the construction of the eastern rail line at Port Harcourt. This will traverse all states in the South-East.<\/p>\n<p>Moghalu reiterated that the administration is committed to transforming the lives of all Nigerians, including those of the South-East.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe bathymetric survey of the rivers that share a common course is targeted at opening up enormous economic and agricultural activities to boost commercial activities in Anambra State.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis would also restore the historic water transportation along the course like in the past, which would also reduce pressure on our roads infrastructure, Moghalu added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigerian government has released a date for the opening to traffic of the 2nd Niger Bridge.
