{"id":49324,"date":"2021-06-21T19:16:01","date_gmt":"2021-06-21T18:16:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=49324"},"modified":"2021-06-21T19:16:01","modified_gmt":"2021-06-21T18:16:01","slug":"nigerian-man-three-other-illegal-african-migrants-convicted-for-rape-and-murder-of-16-year-old-italian-girl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/06\/21\/nigerian-man-three-other-illegal-african-migrants-convicted-for-rape-and-murder-of-16-year-old-italian-girl\/","title":{"rendered":"Nigerian man, three other illegal African migrants convicted for rape and murder of 16-year-old Italian girl"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Four African men have been convicted in the drugging, aggravated sexual assault and murder of 16-year-old Desire\u00e8 Mariottini in Rome, Italy.<\/p>\n<p>After some nine hours of deliberation, the four drug pushers including a Nigerian national, Alinno Chima were convicted on Saturday, June 19, of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/06\/17\/video-man-recounts-how-he-and-three-others-murdered-a-rivers-petty-trader-who-he-had-sold-piece-of-land-to\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">murder<\/a> of the teenage girl, who they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/06\/21\/british-nigerian-jailed-for-raping-13-year-old-girl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sexually abused<\/a> and left to die of an overdose in October 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The court delivered its verdict and sentenced Senegalese pair Mamadou Gara and Yussef Salia to life imprisonment, Italy\u2019s stiffest criminal punishment, while Ghanaian, Brian Minthe got 27 years and Nigerian, Chima, 24 and a half years.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_49338\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-49338\" style=\"width: 768px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-49338\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/06\/kunlenet07\/2021\/06\/21\/Desiree-Mariottini-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"549\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/06\/kunlenet07\/2021\/06\/21\/Desiree-Mariottini-3.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/06\/kunlenet07\/2021\/06\/21\/Desiree-Mariottini-3-300x214.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-49338\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Alinno Chima<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The body of Desiree Mariottini, from Cisterna di Matina was found in October 2018 in an abandoned building in Rome&#8217;s working class San Lorenzo district, which has a big <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/05\/23\/photos-ndlea-arrests-brazil-based-nigerian-with-n8bn-worth-of-cocaine-seizes-24500-he-offered-as-bribe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">drugs trade<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>When they were arrested, the suspects were found to be lacking documents granting permission for migrants to legally reside in Italy.
