{"id":51023,"date":"2021-06-25T16:11:12","date_gmt":"2021-06-25T15:11:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=51023"},"modified":"2021-06-25T16:11:12","modified_gmt":"2021-06-25T15:11:12","slug":"adamawa-court-remands-four-men-over-alleged-witchcraft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/06\/25\/adamawa-court-remands-four-men-over-alleged-witchcraft\/","title":{"rendered":"Adamawa Court remands four men over alleged witchcraft"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Chief Magistrate Court in Yola, Adamawa State, has remanded four men in prison custody for allegedly holding two people in a trance and torturing them through witchcraft.<\/p>\n<p>The court, presided over by Magistrate Adamu Abdulrazak, remanded the four men accused of afflicting their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/06\/24\/romance-scams-kenyan-woman-nigerian-man-face-30-year-jail-in-u-s-for-defrauding-victims-of-over-4million\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">victims<\/a> for over several months.<\/p>\n<p>The accused persons are Sani Bolere Baban Yello, Kero Jediel, Babangida Amos and Zebulum Benjamin.<\/p>\n<p>Kero, Babangida and Zebulum who were joined as 1st, 2nd and 3rd defendants were brought to court by one Debe Lamina Dathan, while Baban Yello was brought before the court by Gidado Idi.<\/p>\n<p>In his complaint, Gidado alleged that his son, Abubakar Gidado, fell sick for more than a year, and that when the defendant whom he suspected to be the one responsible for the sickness was taken to Sarkin Mayu Adamawa, he admitted bewitching his child.<\/p>\n<p>On her part, Debe Lamina Dathan, a businesswoman at Wuro Yanka, alleged that her brother, Yindusura Dathan, was ill for a long while, and when he was taken for prayers, it was said that the defendants took away his spirit.<\/p>\n<p>When the complaint was read and explained to Baban Yello, he pleaded guilty, confessing that he was a witch who had been torturing Yindusura.<\/p>\n<p>On their part however, Kero, Babangida and Zebulum, denied the allegation against them.<\/p>\n<p>Ruling, Chief Magistrate Adamu Abdulrazak ordered that the defendants be remanded, and adjourned the case to Monday, June 28.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Chief Magistrate Court in Yola, Adamawa State, has remanded four men in prison custody for allegedly holding two people in a trance and torturing them through witchcraft.
