Minister of youth and sports, Sunday Dare has reacted to the claim made by former Super Eagles player and coach, Samson Siasia that he was abandoned by the ministry during his life ban from football activities.<\/p>\n

Recall that FIFA in 2019 found Siasia “guilty of having accepted that he would receive bribes in relation to the\u00a0manipulation of matches<\/a><\/strong>\u201d and handed him a life ban from all football-related activities.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the sanction was reduced significantly reduced to a five-year ban at the\u00a0Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS).<\/p>\n

Reacting to his reduced ban, the multiple Olympics medalist had alleged that\u00a0his ex-teammates and sports ministry<\/a> all abandoned him during the period of the life ban.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe most disappointing moments were when your colleagues that you played with never called you to ask you how you\u2019re doing. Even the legend games \u2013 I don\u2019t know what FIFA ban had to do with legend games \u2013 they don\u2019t even invite me or put me amongst whatever they are doing. So I\u2019m very disappointed with that,\u201d he had said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe minister for sports came in few weeks after my ban. And the minister called me and said, \u2018coach, I know about your problem, but we don\u2019t have money.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

In his reaction on Monday, Dare said Siasia \u201cwas not telling the truth\u201d while alleging that he received \u201ccash\u201d from the ministry.<\/p>\n

The minister also claimed that the\u00a0federal government \u201cwill come out with the facts\u201d that show the ministry helped the former Super Eagles forward through those turbulent times.<\/p>\n

\u201cSiasia is not telling the truth, and the ministry and the FG will come out with the facts. Of the cash he collected, of the efforts we made. He is not telling the truth,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
