{"id":53660,"date":"2021-07-02T14:32:11","date_gmt":"2021-07-02T13:32:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=53660"},"modified":"2021-07-02T14:32:11","modified_gmt":"2021-07-02T13:32:11","slug":"activist-gimba-kakanda-reacts-to-mannequin-ban-by-kano-hisbah-board","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/02\/activist-gimba-kakanda-reacts-to-mannequin-ban-by-kano-hisbah-board\/","title":{"rendered":"Activist Gimba Kakanda reacts to Mannequin ban by Kano Hisbah Board"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gimba Kakanda, Nigerian journalist and activist has called out the Kano State Hisbah Board for subjecting Islam to ridicule.<\/p>\n<p>This call was made on Thursday by Kakanda while reacting to the decision of the Islamic police to ban the\u00a0use of mannequins to display clothes by tailors, supermarkets, and boutique owners in Kano\u00a0state.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that the commander of the Board, Sheikh Aroun Ibn Sina announced the ban of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/01\/kano-hisbah-bans-use-of-mannequins-to-display-clothes-by-tailors-and-boutique-owners\/\">mannequin<\/a><\/strong> in the state on June 30.<\/p>\n<p>The commander also said that the use of mannequins by tailors, boutique owners, and others contravened the provision of Islamic injunctions.<\/p>\n<p>Expressing his views on the development, the Niger State born writer said anybody aroused by a mannequin doesn\u2019t need redemption from a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/06\/30\/we-are-responsible-for-our-problems-not-religion-or-ethnicity-president-buhari\/\">religion<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They need vigorous therapy sessions to fight their perversion or even a rehab to restore their sanity. There are much more effective ways to treat a mentally ill people. Bunch of weirdos masquerading as fundamentalists&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Kano State Hisbah Board has succeeded more in subjecting Islam to ridicule than it has in projecting its virtues. It\u2019s rather embarrassing that an agency set up to promote Islam is obsessed with the trivial and the ridiculous in a country wrecked by poorly indoctrinated Muslims who have waged war against the society and the nation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;An agency that ought to be more interested in developing policies and programmes to protect impressionable Muslim youths from violent extremism has chosen a path that inspires extremist tendency, banning the use of mannequins at fashion houses and punishing a Muslim boy who stopped praying after being humiliated by the Hisbah corps for rocking unconventional haircut.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Some days ago, a Muslim cleric rattled Kano when he questioned the existence of an all-Christian settlement in Kano.
