{"id":53667,"date":"2021-07-02T15:08:13","date_gmt":"2021-07-02T14:08:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=53667"},"modified":"2021-07-02T15:16:07","modified_gmt":"2021-07-02T14:16:07","slug":"court-sentences-kenyan-man-to-three-months-imprisonment-for-threatening-to-beat-his-mother","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/02\/court-sentences-kenyan-man-to-three-months-imprisonment-for-threatening-to-beat-his-mother\/","title":{"rendered":"Court sentences Kenyan man to three months imprisonment for threatening to beat his mother"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Court has fined and sentenced a Kenyan man to three months imprisonment for insulting his mother and threatening to beat her.<\/p>\n<p>WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the Kenyan man identified as David Oduor was found guilty of causing a disturbance in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace.<\/p>\n<p>Oduor was handed the penalties by senior resident magistrate Charles Mwaniki of Kibera law courts after he pleaded guilty to the charges.<\/p>\n<p>Court heard that Oduor caused chaos at Gaudensia Oduor\u2019s home in Langata estate between June 18 and 20.<\/p>\n<p>According to report, Oduor banged his mother\u2019s door and threatened to beat her. This forced her to take cover inside her bedroom.<\/p>\n<p>He repeated the same thing the following day and went into the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/06\/28\/19-year-old-girl-stabs-boyfriend-to-death-in-kenya-over-infidelity\/\">kitchen<\/a> to cook after his mother locked herself in her bedroom. She reported him to the police.<\/p>\n<p>Oduor left food cooking in the kitchen causing a burn-dry that made his mother\u2019s house and neighbours\u2019 soot filled. Her mother sneaked from her hiding to switch off the gas.<\/p>\n<p>On June 20, he brought his drinking buddies to his mother\u2019s house and they started making noise but she kept quiet in fear.<\/p>\n<p>Police investigations established that she had made similar complaints against her son last year.<\/p>\n<p>Through an advocate, he told the court that he had settled the matter and reconciled with his mother, and was remorseful.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Court has fined and sentenced a Kenyan man to three months imprisonment for insulting his mother and threatening to beat her.
