The Yoruba nation activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, on Friday, countered the claims by the Department of State Security (DSS) that a large cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from his residence during a midnight raid on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The activist denied stockpiling arms and ammunition in his house<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sunday Igboho said he protects himself with spiritual powers and not with guns, saying the guns the DSS claimed were recovered from his house during Thursday\u2019s raid of his house were not his.<\/p>\n

In a statement by his spokesperson Olayomi Koiki, on Friday evening, Igboho said, \u201cNigerians and the international community should please be aware that the security operatives that invaded my home either planted the ammunitions being paraded in the media in my home or harvest them from their armoury to frame me. The arms paraded are not mine, they are government magic. I protect myself with traditional powers, not with guns.\u201d<\/p>\n

While saying he wanted to set the records straight, Adeyemo noted that the invasion of his residence was done without a search warrant, saying \u201cI was not invited for questioning\/investigation at any government facility before the invasion.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to him, \u201cthe failure of President Muhammadu Buhari and his government to curb the criminal activities of the murderous herdsmen necessitated my intervention.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sunday Igboho said he ordinarily would not have intervened if government had lived up to its responsibility of securing the Southwest and Nigeria at large.<\/p>\n

He stated that his intervention has not led to any loss of life or bloodshed, adding that \u201cMy means of curbing criminality is to chase the criminal Fulani herdsmen out of their hideouts in company of the people of the affected communities.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sunday, who has been declared wanted by the DSS maintained that he has never moved against the peaceful Fulani\u2019s and other tribes living peacefully in the Southwest, expressing worries that \u201cMy unjust persecution for defending my people and community is therefore surprising and unwarranted.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
