{"id":54062,"date":"2021-07-03T12:24:26","date_gmt":"2021-07-03T11:24:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=54062"},"modified":"2021-07-03T12:24:26","modified_gmt":"2021-07-03T11:24:26","slug":"i-believe-in-fairness-shettima-advocates-power-shift-from-north-to-south","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/03\/i-believe-in-fairness-shettima-advocates-power-shift-from-north-to-south\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;I believe in fairness&#8221; &#8211; Shettima advocates power shift from north to south"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former governor of Borno state, Kashim Shettima has stated that it is time for political power to go to southern Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>This was stated on Friday by the former governor, Shettima at the\u00a0public presentation of Njidda Gadzama\u2019s book, \u201cStanding for the Truth with Courage\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Gadzama is the chairman, Tertiary Education Trust Fund (<a href=\"https:\/\/tetfundserver.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>TETFund<\/strong><\/a>) research and development standing committee.<\/p>\n<p>The former governor said after power has resided in the north for eight years, it is only just for it to be rotated to the south.<\/p>\n<p>He further said the hope of the country rests on the mindset of its people, adding that Nigeria\u2019s problems are neither religion nor ethnicity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe in equity, justice and fairness. After power has resided in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/06\/29\/do-not-leave-office-broke-ex-minister-ogbeh-tells-northern-reps\/\">north<\/a> for eight years, there is need for a power shift in the south,\u201d Shettima said.<\/p>\n<p>He commended Gazdama for propagating the culture of the people of Margi in his book.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the book will serve as a learning ground for people across different cultures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are living in the 21st century where our culture is beginning to face extinction,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of Margi sons and daughters are not familiar with their mother tongue \u2014 a situation not too good for our existence.
