{"id":56225,"date":"2021-07-09T06:35:25","date_gmt":"2021-07-09T05:35:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=56225"},"modified":"2021-07-09T06:35:25","modified_gmt":"2021-07-09T05:35:25","slug":"matawalle-signs-bills-granting-autonomy-to-zamfara-judiciary-legislature","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/09\/matawalle-signs-bills-granting-autonomy-to-zamfara-judiciary-legislature\/","title":{"rendered":"Matawalle signs bills granting autonomy to Zamfara judiciary, legislature"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bills granting autonomy to the state legislative and judicial arms of Zamfara state government have been signed by its governor, Bello Matawalle.<\/p>\n<p>This was contained in a statement released on Thursday by spokesman to the governor, Yusuf Idris in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara.<\/p>\n<p>Idris explained that the governor signed the bills into law during a brief ceremony at the government house at Gusau.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe two new laws are now the Zamfara State Judiciary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/06\/03\/financial-autonomy-for-judiciary-unrealistic-says-nyesom-wike\/\">Autonomy<\/a> Law and the Zamfara State Legislative Fund Management Law and Related Matters Connected Therewith, 2021 (1442 AH),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to Idris, Matawalle said being a \u201ctrue democrat\u201d, he will continue to ensure that all statutory responsibilities are directed through the right channels.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do not see any reason why we will not allow the autonomy of these two strong arms of government, which will ensure the smooth running of government and the progress of our dear state,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will not politicise or joke with your responsibilities, your funding and the autonomy. Therefore, with this signing into law, it is my strong conviction that we will continue to work as partners for the growth and progress of our dear state and the good people of Zamfara.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also urged the two arms of government to prevent all forms of corrupt practices, adding that anyone found wanting should be sanctioned.<\/p>\n<p>Nasiru Magarya, speaker of the state state house of assembly, commended the governor for his good relationship with the legislature and judiciary.<\/p>\n<p>Magarya assured the governor of continuous support from the legislative and judicial arms of government for the benefit of the state.<\/p>\n<p>Present at the ceremony were all the principal officers of the state house of assembly; Kabiru Balarabe, acting secretary to the state government, among others.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bills granting autonomy to the state legislative and judicial arms of Zamfara state government have been signed by its governor, Bello Matawalle.
