{"id":57996,"date":"2021-07-13T19:17:00","date_gmt":"2021-07-13T18:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=57996"},"modified":"2021-07-13T21:16:07","modified_gmt":"2021-07-13T20:16:07","slug":"nnamdi-kanus-heart-has-enlarged-by-13-he-needs-quick-advanced-medical-attention-lawyer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/13\/nnamdi-kanus-heart-has-enlarged-by-13-he-needs-quick-advanced-medical-attention-lawyer\/","title":{"rendered":"Nnamdi Kanu&#8217;s heart has enlarged by 13%, he needs quick, advanced medical attention \u2013 Lawyer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lawyer to the Supreme Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu said his client&#8217;s heart has enlarged by 13percent, hence, he needs quick and prompt advanced medical attention.<\/p>\n<p>Ejiofor told reporters on Tuesday, urging the Nigerian government to allow Kanu&#8217;s medical personnel to visit him in the custody of the Department of State Services.<\/p>\n<p>He added that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/06\/29\/nnamdi-kanus-family-issues-warning-to-nigerian-govt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kanu\u2019s family<\/a> members had not seen him since June 18 when he was arrested by the Nigerian authorities.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/13\/nnamdi-kanu-ipob-leaders-wife-finally-breaks-silence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IPOB leader<\/a> is not feeling too good at the moment and whatever treatment he is being given at the Department of State Services,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/02\/dss-plotting-to-inject-nnamdi-kanu-poisonous-vaccine-kill-him-slowly-ipob\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> DSS<\/a>, was not enough.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want an expert that will examine him because he is still not feeling good. We want an expert that will provide him with advanced medical attention \u2013 not the type is given where he is being detained.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ejiofor further stated that \u201cThe preliminary investigation conducted on his health shows that his heart has enlarged by 13percent. So he needs quick and prompt advanced medical attention. So we have formally applied to the court for that. Let us see what happens in the coming days. So then we can pick it up from there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes, it is correct that his family members have not been able to see him. I am particularly worried. They don\u2019t have access to him. The wife, the brothers, cousins and children have not been allowed to see him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is why I classified his detention as solitary confinement and also being subjected to regular mental torture. If you have access to your wife and children and brothers and sisters, you will have some element of relief from your immediate family. But in this case, they are not allowed to see him. They have not been allowed to see him.
