{"id":60014,"date":"2021-07-19T04:39:10","date_gmt":"2021-07-19T03:39:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=60014"},"modified":"2021-07-19T04:39:10","modified_gmt":"2021-07-19T03:39:10","slug":"40-feet-container-crushes-2-vehicles-kills-1-on-otedola-bridge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/19\/40-feet-container-crushes-2-vehicles-kills-1-on-otedola-bridge\/","title":{"rendered":"40 feet container crushes 2 vehicles, kills 1 on Otedola bridge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 40-feet container on Sunday crushed two cars, leaving one person dead and the other injured on the Otedola Bridge in Lagos state.<\/p>\n<p>The Head of Public Affairs, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Mr Nosa Okunbor who confirmed the incident, said the remains of the victim has been claimed by his relatives, \u00a0the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.<\/p>\n<p>Okunbor added that the yet to be identified but injured driver of the container-laden truck that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/10\/my-daughter-wanted-to-pay-okada-rider-when-truck-crushed-her-to-death-in-ibadan-market-grieving-mother\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">crushed<\/a> the two cars was ferried to the Trauma Centre near FRSC Office by old Lagos-Ibadan Toll Gate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLASEMA in a just-concluded operation involving one fatality, rescued a seriously injured truck driver at the Otedola bridge incident scene this morning, July 18.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe yet-to-be-identified injured truck driver conveying the 40 feet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/03\/15\/container-falls-from-trailer-crushes-three-vehicles-one-tricycle-in-lagos-photos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">container<\/a> that crushed two vehicles which left one driver dead, was hurriedly ferried to the Trauma Centre.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRemains of the late driver of one of the vehicles, one Mr Lawal, has been claimed by his relatives as the agency worked assiduously to evacuate all impediments from the road,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, reports upon arrival at the scene showed that the 40 feet container on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/17\/oil-tanker-crashes-into-two-trucks-as-brake-fails-in-lagos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">truck<\/a> with an unknown registration number fell on the two cars.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe two cars\u2019 registration numbers are JJJ 28 FR and BDG 597 CY respectively.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne adult male lost his life, while the driver of the container truck sustained serious injuries and has been rushed to the Lagos Trauma Centre.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe affected vehicles have been evacuated off the road with the agency\u2019s light and heavy-duty equipment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLASEMA Response Teams, NEMA, FRSC and LASTMA were joint responders in the recovery operation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the road was cleared of every impediment and ready for vehicular movements.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A 40-feet container on Sunday crushed two cars, leaving one person dead and the other injured on the Otedola Bridge in Lagos state.
