{"id":60315,"date":"2021-07-19T17:51:08","date_gmt":"2021-07-19T16:51:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=60315"},"modified":"2021-07-19T18:04:44","modified_gmt":"2021-07-19T17:04:44","slug":"list-ozigbo-as-pdp-anambra-guber-candidate-court-orders-inec","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/19\/list-ozigbo-as-pdp-anambra-guber-candidate-court-orders-inec\/","title":{"rendered":"List Ozigbo as PDP Anambra guber candidate, Court orders INEC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been ordered by a federal high court sitting in Awka to publish the name of Valentine Ozigbo as candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the November 6 Anambra state governorship election.<\/p>\n<p>A former chief executive officer of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria, Ozigbo secured 62 votes to emerge as the standard-bearer of the party in the primary election which was held on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that Ozigbo had approached a federal capital territory (FCT) high court in Maitama seeking an order restraining the PDP from \u201ctampering\u201d with his name as the authentic candidate.<\/p>\n<p>He also sought an order \u201cmandating\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/18\/we-have-capacity-to-transmit-results-electronically-despite-conditions-in-remote-areas-inec\/\">INEC<\/a> to publish his name as the party\u2019s candidate.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the court refused all the orders sort and ordered the electoral commission not to publish the name of any candidate for the PDP pending the determination of the motion on notice.<\/p>\n<p>Consequently, INEC, excluded the candidate of the PDP from the list of cleared candidates for the poll.<\/p>\n<p>But in a fresh order issued on Monday, Hyeladzira Nganjiwa, the judge in Awka, asked the electoral commission to publish Ozigbo\u2019s name as PDP\u2019s candidate, following the withdrawal of the suit at the FCT high court.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been ordered by a federal high court sitting in Awka to publish the name of Valentine Ozigbo as candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the November 6 Anambra state governorship election.
