{"id":61645,"date":"2021-07-23T10:00:03","date_gmt":"2021-07-23T09:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=61645"},"modified":"2021-07-23T10:00:03","modified_gmt":"2021-07-23T09:00:03","slug":"breaking-again-cotonou-court-adjourns-igbohos-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/23\/breaking-again-cotonou-court-adjourns-igbohos-case\/","title":{"rendered":"BREAKING: Again, Cotonou court adjourns Igboho\u2019s case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The court hearing of embattled Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho over immigration-related issues has been adjourned to Monday, July 26.<\/p>\n<p>The Court on Thursday evening had ordered that Igboho be remanded in the custody till Friday pending the submission of charges by the Nigerian Government, but it has been adjourned again.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/23\/breaking-beninise-court-orders-release-of-igbohos-wife\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Igboho<\/a> and his wife, Ropo, were arrested at the Cardinal Bernardin International Airport, Cotonou on Monday while trying to catch a flight to Germany.<\/p>\n<p>A statement by Media Communications Secretary of the Yoruba self-determination groups\u2019 umbrella body Ilana Omo Oodua (IOO) Mr. Maxwell Adeleye, confirmed the case has been adjourned again till Monday 26th July to allow the Federal Government bring up whatever evidence they may have against Igboho.<\/p>\n<p>It said: \u201cThe Lawyers handling the case reported after the proceedings that Chief Sunday Adeyemo lgboho cannot be extradited to Nigeria for two principal reasons:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c1. That contrary to insinuations, Nigeria and Benin have no Extradition Agreement<\/p>\n<p>\u201c2. That Nigeria has not been able to come up with charges that could lead the court to order lgboho\u2019s extradition to Nigeria.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat Nigerian Government came up with were mere allegations against Ighoho such as trafficking in arms and inciting violence that could result in the social disturbance without evidence\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Details later&#8230;.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The court hearing of embattled Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho over immigration-related issues has been adjourned to Monday, July 26.
